You didn't say if the "10 or 15 watt crappy amps" were tube or solid state, so, in your price range, may I please recommend a couple of excellent 15-watt tube amps that will help your Strat to sing?…

I`m vey on the heavy-blues side and the best thing I`ve ever plugged in concerning blues-rock was actually Mesa Boogie Blue Angel. So that`s my choice of amp. But the more bluesier and a bit cheaper…
